Favorite Quote: “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.” ~Excerpt from Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

Originally from Texas, Kristin moved to NYC during Hurricane Harvey. She received her degree from The University of Texas at Austin where she was a Texas Interdisciplinary Scholar. After being diagnosed with a depressive disorder, she began photography as a healthy way to cope with anxiety and post-grad depression.

In speaking with her she says, “Photography is my freedom of expression. It’s the one part of my life that allows me to create what I want, how I want, where I want, with who I want…and people trust me for it. In a world where our identities are only cool if it “gets likes,” it’s humbling to be hired by someone simply because they appreciate my specific taste. I chose photography as a passion because as a child, someone told me I wasn’t photogenic. I never ever want any of my clients to feel like they can’t take beautiful photos.  It’s a photographer’s job to capture your moment of radiance and if I can’t do that, then I’m not a good photographer. Being a creative is much more than doing cool work. In time, I want to use my photography to represent the voices of the unheard and the creative rawness of people.”

Kristin is currently contracted with three companies and works as a freelance photographer throughout the city. She has worked for companies such as Boston Consulting Group, FOJP Service Corporation, ADC Technology, Digital Ventures, The Standard Grooming Co. and other businesses and entrepreneurs. Outside of photography, Kristin is a state finalist in the Miss NY USA 2018 pageant competition. She hopes to create a platform that promotes mental health awareness and suicide prevention in low-income communities. She additionally serves as a mentor to children of incarcerated parents at Children of Promise in Brooklyn.
